| "For once in my life, I don't second guess my day. I have a job where I've been consistent. I always show up, with or without a plan, and it always works. I get up in the morning and I think about my clients – I call them my children." |

Hope is...feeling alive, being alive, doing life
Pam Johnson has faced and overcome many obstacles throughout her life. At a point where she was homeless, dealing with chronic depression and feeling like she was falling through the cracks, Dreamcatchers helped her find hope.
Pam worked with several job placement vendors trying to get back on her feet. Unfortunately, she was so high-functioning that many of these vendors didn't spend the time or energy needed to help her succeed. Pam's counselor at the Department of Rehabilitation introduced her to the Dreamcatchers team and it became a turning point in her life.
Dreamcatchers found a position for Pam within the organization. Challenges arose as she adjusted to work, and the Dreamcatchers team remained flexible continually looking for different ways to utilize her skills. Through perseverance, determination and with a lot of support from the Dreamcatchers team, Pam settled into a position as a job coach and is now a work adjustment specialist who helps other Dreamcatchers clients. She manages anywhere from 9-12 clients at a time, helping them learn new job skills such as food ordering and preparation, janitorial training and landscaping.
In addition to her job at Dreamcatchers, Pam has become involved in Recovery groups at Crestwood Behavioral Health.
Pam is a survivor of domestic violence, sexual abuse and chronic depression. Through the accomplishments she has achieved with the help of Dreamcatchers, Pam has learned to cope with all of these adversities in a much more positive way.
Pam says, "The Dreamcatchers program and the Dreamcatchers team have allowed me to hope and dream, and given me the blessings to make this actionable. I have a purpose. I am accountable. I am responsible. This would not have been possible without Dreamcatchers." |
